Large Format Printing at the DMC

Need a poster sized print for your project, event, or just for your bedroom? The DMC now offers large-sized poster and banner prints quickly and cheaply. We generally require a 48 hour turn around on all prints. If you need the print faster, please call the lab and check to see if we have sufficient availability. We currently only offer printing to students and staff at JHU who have a valid JHU issued ID.

We will now only accept files that are submitted in Adobe's Portable Document Format, or PDF. This allows you to choose whatever medium to produce your content in and bring us a file which we can confidently handle. If you are unfamiliar with how to produce a PDF we encourage you to come to the DMC where we should have the resources to show you how.  All file submission must be done in person so that we can assure that your files will print correctly. The DMC recommends against the use of Powerpoint to design posters as there is a maximum size limitation in Powerpoint which could prevent your job from printing. We will turn away Powerpoint files and advise either a redesign or that you convert the powerpoint document to a PDF. These instructions are helpful, but we do not guarantee their effectiveness. To ensure the fewest problems we recommend that you create your document to the exact same dimensions that you would like it printed. Images should be at least 150 dpi. Most problems occur with Hopkins logos. For your convenience, links to the different logos and seals can be found here.

The papers we use are a maximum of 42 inches wide. If at least one dimension is under 42 inches; we should be able to accomodate your job. The maximum printable width is 41.2 inches.

Our fees are based on the printed area. If you have a poster which is 2 feet by 3 feet you will have a printable area of 6 square feet. There is an additional $10 service fee for the first poster and $2 per duplicate poster. Payment can be made with J-Cash, personal check, or university budget code and its administrator's contact information. We do not accept cash.  Prices per square foot are listed below.
